Active wear is being combined with technology via a new partnership in the workout market. Sportswear company, Nakeid and electronics company, Xiaomi are joining forces with a fitness package.
Nakeid is a new London-based sportswear brand for women that allows customers to design their own personal cycling, running or triathlon suit. Customers can choose their favorite color, length of sleeves and shorts, and even add their name or logo onto their clothing items.

Xiaomi is a privately owned Chinese electronics company that creates hardware, software and Internet services. One of their high-selling products is their Mi Band, a fitness tracker similar to a Fitbit that tracks activity levels, walking distance and calories burned. The Mi Band is oval-shaped and can be used alone or be bought with a bracelet into which it can be inserted.
The two companies are now creating a bundled product that allows users who purchase a line of clothes from Nakeid to have the option to add on a Mi Band for less than $15, which is the tracker’s retail price.
The line of clothing that is tailored toward the Mi Band is Nakeid’s mesh shorts, crop tops and chevron jerseys that are aimed at cyclists and triathletes. Some of the clothing items have a small pocket that the customer can insert the tracker into as well.
The fact that both companies have customizable fitness-related products make them a strategic fit for producing such a product bundle. And perhaps most importantly for the new active wear trend, customers can color coordinate Nakeid and Mi Band outfit.
