Minnesota Twins Pitcher Trevor May Now Brand Ambassador For Luminosity Gaming

Minnesota Twins pitcher and avid gaming enthusiast Trevor May is joining Luminosity Gaming as a brand ambassador. May, who has been live streaming on Twitch throughout the MLB offseason, will represent Luminosity when he plays Overwatch online.

The Founder of Luminosity Gaming, Steve Maida, told Dot Esports that discussions are also currently ongoing for May potentially acquiring a financial stake in the gaming organization.

“He is a genuine guy through and through and I couldn’t be happier to welcome to Luminosity Gaming,” Maida said in an announcement on the team website last week. “There is so much we can learn from the world of traditional sports, and I hope that Trevor can pass on some of his experience to our players and management.”

Added May: “I’m really looking forward to working with Luminosity Gaming. They’ve quickly established themselves as one of the biggest names in esports, and as a passionate gamer myself, I’m excited to team up with LG and support them.”

May joins NBA players Jeremy Lin (Brooklyn Nets) and Jonas Jerebko (Boston Celtics) as current athletes who are involved with eSports organizations, with Jerebko purchasing the Renegades franchise last August. Lin, who recently participated in a $15 million Series A round for gaming platform Plays.tv, now endorses a Dota 2 team as of last September.

Roger Saffold, an offensive lineman with the Los Angeles Rams, was also one of the first athletes to enter eSports four years ago, investing in Rise Nation Gaming.
