A proximity-based mobile marketing company, Signal 360, has been employed by the NBA’s Milwaukee Bucks to enhance the technological experience of the fan, both in and outside of the arena. They will aim to produce a new technological experience that will be implemented through the Milwaukee Buck’s mobile app.

Initially, Signal 360 placed their imprint on the team’s app during the 2015 playoffs when their beacons reached 95% of the mobile devices in the arena. Now, Signal 360 changed their beacon, allowing the app to be utilized both in the arena and outside, at Buck’s events such as the Summer Block Party and Summer Fest.

Using both Sonic Audio Technology and BLE with full iBeacon support, Signal 360’s Beacon can reach a vast amount of different devices. According to Signal 360, the beacon can even reach devices that have their Bluetooth mode off. Bucks Senior Vice President of Business Development Matt Pazaras stated that, “Proximity technology gives our organization new abilities to communicate with and reward fans for their loyalty in contextually relevant ways.” So by utilizing Signal 360’s powerful beacons, the Bucks now have the capability to reach all of their fans using the mobile app, which can lead to an increase of people participating at team events.

Alex Bell, Founder and CEO of Signal360, adds “By utilizing our turn-key platform and unique combination of technologies, the Bucks are not only giving their fans a better in-arena experience, but they are opening up a dialogue with fans in meaningful ways, it’s an exciting opportunity for better interaction between the Bucks organization, fans and corporate sponsors.” Furthermore, at the summer events fans will get mobile notifications for exclusive access and offers to limited content.

Expect many teams to start utilizing beacon technology in a similar manner to the Bucks. It offers methods to further personalize and the at-game experience for fans which is always good for the franchise’s bottom line.
