Mark Cuban has been busy investing in sports technology companies this week. Earlier today it was announced that he invested in Sportradar and now it has been announced that Axon Sports has closed a round of financing that includes the Dallas Mavericks owner as well.

The funds raised from this round will be used to continue to build and advance Axon’s technology platform and expand its product reach which includes cognitive assessment and training tools for professional, collegiate and elite amateur athletes.

Axon offers customized programs at their performance centers or with their individualized iPad applications that let athletes assess and improve their skills leveraging six key cognitive domains: pattern recognition anticipation/reaction, decision making, focus, imagination and emotional regulation. We see cognitive training in sports as the next waveof athlete assessment, performance improvement and analytics that compliment traditional data points.”

“Mark’s investment in Axon Sports is also validating as the Mavericks continue to be a valued client and an early adopter of disruptive technologies. In addition, we look forward to Mark’s insights, strategic vision and alignment with other portfolio companies in the sports technology space.”
