Manchester United launched the MUTV app on Monday in order to cater to its fans worldwide, as the app is not available for fans in the U.K. due to restrictions.
Fans around the world are now able to watch Manchester United programming on a 24/7 live stream of MUTV content and also on demand. The live stream or video on demand can be cast onto a television using the Chromecast and AirPlay functions.

Content includes live radio coverage for every Manchester United game in the Premier League, FA Cup, EFL Cup and European competitions as well as press conferences, interviews and analysis on studio shows. Match highlights, full match replays, behind-the-scenes videos, and classic matches are available to watch. There is also live coverage of preseason games and also of Manchester United Reserves and Academy.
The app is available in the App Store and Google Play, with monthly subscription packages ranging from $1.99 – $7.99 for premium content. The app is available in more than 160 countries where the competition and partner rights allow Manchester United to do so, according to Manchester United executive vice chairman and director Ed Woodward.
“As we progress on our digital transformation journey, this product will enable us to do a number of things,” Woodward said in an earnings conference call last week. “Building global use of basic customers, tracking user behavior within the app, test and optimize acquisition marketing, and of course build a deep insight at scale on the consumption of our premium content and the DCC distribution market. We will track this closely and it’s something we expect to grow steadily over time.”
“It cannot go into the U.K., because of the deed of license restrictions with the Premier League. So it’s not in the U.K and it is not in many countries worldwide where we have sponsorship deals in existence with partners who can utilize an exclusive content within those territories.”
