EDISON, NJ – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) has announced a multi-year licensing agreement with Helper Helper. Helper Helper is a provider of volunteer management software that allows athletic departments to coordinate and track the community service efforts of their student-athletes.
In the fall of 2015, Helper Helper partnered with NCAA Team Works, which represents the ongoing community outreach efforts of the NCAA, to manage the national NCAA Team Works Community Service Competition of which Manhattan College athletics finished second in the nation. Manhattan’s women’s lacrosse team helped lead the way as the best women’s team in the nation with over 2,600 service hours.
The conference-wide use of Helper Helper was approved by MAAC membership after a unanimous motion was proposed by the MAAC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) during its 2016 Spring Meeting at Saint Peter’s University.
Madison Arndt, the MAAC’s representative on the NCAA Division I SAAC Committee and member of the Manhattan College track and field team said; “Manhattan has been using Helper Helper for a year now and the outcome has been nothing but positive. When looking into the student-athlete community service efforts as a whole, Manhattan College has seen an increase in participation and enjoyment from team to team. After seeing how interested MAAC SAAC was in utilizing the app at our spring meeting, the group decided on making a formal motion for the conference to adopt Helper Helper.”
“I truly believe that giving each of the 11 MAAC schools the opportunity to utilize the Helper Helper app will strengthen each campus’ involvement in community service, all while making it easier to track team and individual hours completed,” Arndt added.
