Los Angeles Rams running back Todd Gurley was recently named the cover athlete for the 2017 Topps digital trading card app, NFL HUDDLE 2017.
The former University of Georgia standout will be featured on the app icon in addition to the splash screen. Gurley, who was the 2015 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, will participate in the Topps Live Signature program where he will deliver personalized autographs to fans.
“The first time downloading the app was pretty cool for me to see my face on the cover,” Gurley said, adding that the trading card deal was through the NFL Players Association. “For the younger fans growing up, now you can always have your digital cards with you. That’s always a good thing.”

Added Jeremy Strauser, Vice President and General Manager of the Topps digital apps division in a statement: “NFL fans are some of the most passionate and dedicated fans in all of sports. Fans in HUDDLE have opened over 40 million packs of digital cards and offered over 20 million trades in the app, and that pace is accelerating each week. We can’t wait to deliver the famous Topps NFL card brands to the fans this season.”
Fans can now trade-in and upgrade their digital cards through the Topps Card Exchange, a new feature for the 2016-17 NFL season. Also included in the app, which is available in the App Store and Google Play Store, will be some of Topps’ premier designs, including Topps Chrome, Topps Inception and Topps Fire.
The Topps Bowman brand debuted earlier this month and now highlights some of the top rookies and second-year players. In addition, fans can play alongside NFL games on Sunday through the Live Contests feature and compete for digital card prizes, according to Strauser.
HUDDLE will continue to release new digital cards around some of the bigger football moments this season, including Super Bowl LI and the Pro Bowl.
