Los Angeles Football Club’s Stadium To Feature Most LED Video Display Square Footage In MLS-Specific Venue


The Los Angeles Football Club, the newest member of Major League Soccer that is set to play its inaugural season in 2018, has big plans for its Banc of California Stadium. The team announced a partnership with Panasonic that will help make the 22,000-seat stadium one of the most technologically advanced in the MLS.

Banc of California will feature over 15,000 square feet of LED video display screen – the most square footage of LED video display technology in any U.S. soccer-specific venue and MLS-specific venue. The main video board will be approximately 129-feet wide and 29 feet tall. It will feature 16mm SMD LED video technology that will allow for high-resolution viewing clarity.

“We couldn’t be more excited to partner with Panasonic who shares our mission to both excite, engage and entertain our fans and players in our new stadium,” LAFC Club President and Owner Tom Penn said in a statement. “Panasonic will help bring our stadium life with its digital displays surrounding the pitch and will provide the most technologically-advanced soccer stadium in the MLS to the heart of LA.”

The stadium will be part of a $350-million project that includes a community plaza, restaurant and retail stores. The Banc of California Stadium will be at the center of the complex.

“We look forward to enhancing the fan experience with the most LED video display technology installed in a U.S. soccer venue, and we couldn’t be more excited to be partnering with an industry leader in Panasonic,” Jamie Guin, SVP of Corporate Partnerships for LAFC, said in a statement.

But Mercedes-Benz Stadium, home of the Atlanta United that is scheduled for its first home match on July 30, is set to have the most square footage of LED display with 82,500 thanks to Daktronics. The stadium, which will also host the Atlanta Falcons, will have more total square feet of LED video displays than any stadium in the world.
