The Chinese PC giant Lenovo has made its first leap into the world of wearables with the launch of their new fitness tracker: the Lenovo Smartband SW-B100.

What is nice about the Lenovo smartband is that it allows the user to track fitness using a companion app. This means that the device will be able to measure steps, distance covered, calories burnt, and heart rate, with the ability to show the stats in a graph that grants the option of a daily, weekly, and monthly view.

The smartband also comes with a small display that shows time by default, but it also has the ability to be linked to a mobile device in order to show missed calls, text messages, and calendar appointments. The band should be able to link with Android 4.3 and and iPhones/iPads running iOS 7.1 and up.

Unfortunately, Lenovo has not released much more detail about their smartband, as it appears that the launch of their product was quiet, only releasing a statement on their website.

“The Lenovo Smartband is for young people who take care of their personal health and are interested in new tech trend products.”

The new fitness tracker certainly is a nice addition to the smartband world. It comes with all the basic features that people expect and offers a display screen. Customers will have the option to purchase the smartband in orange or blue colors, but pricing is still a mystery.
