Leaders, the events, media and publishing business which connects the world of senior sports executives, has launched the Leaders Performance Institute.
The Leaders Performance Institute connects, inspires and educates the global performance community in sport and beyond via events, insight, research and professional development programmes. The Institute’s fundamental purpose is to challenge and evolve the thinking of performance practitioners globally.
A founding membership of over 300 of the most innovative clubs, franchises, leagues and high performance organisations from over 31 countries and 64 sports sits within the Institute’s network. Members include New Zealand Rugby Union, Cirque du Soleil, Kansas City Royals, United States Olympic Committee, LA Clippers, Atlanta Falcons, English Premier League, San Antonio Spurs, Team Sky, Arsenal FC, Nike, Stanford University and Red Bull.
An evolution of Leaders’ offering to the global performance community, the Institute continues to run the unique Leaders Sport Performance Summit series with editions in LA, New York and London – an additional USA location will be announced for 2017. The New York summit took place this month with over 300 senior practitioners from across the world, gathering to hear an eclectic mix of high performance experts. Speakers included NFL and NBA General Managers Rick Spielman and Wes Wilcox and NASA’s Chief Knowledge Officer, Ed Hoffman.
To accommodate time poor practitioners and sporting season clashes, as well as the Summits, members of the Institute will also have access to a host of roundtables and masterclasses throughout the year, conceived to give members unique cross-performance learning experiences. Recent masterclasses have been run by the Detroit Lions and Manchester City FC.
The Performance Institute’s content hub, driven by recently appointed Editorial Director James Emmett, delivers best practice and thought leadership as well as original research to members, academic institutions (including Stanford and Loughborough Universities), and future leaders via online, video, audio and print platforms. Core themes include leadership, culture, coaching, development, human performance, talent identification, technology, data and analytics. The Institute’s Performance Journal, described as the Harvard Business Review of the sporting world, will continue to be published quarterly.
The Institute is currently undertaking a wide-ranging Leadership research project with London Business School’s Leadership Institute.
As part of its commitment to developing the next generation of leaders in sport, the Institute facilitates professional development programmes that combine best practice insights and real-world case studies with academic rigour. Having recently entered into a partnership with Josoor Institute, Qatar to deliver a year-round training and development programmes, the Institute will also run a one day Leadership Programme for the industry the day after the Sport Performance Summit in London on 10 November, 2016.
Leaders works with chosen performance partners including Keiser, Catapult, Intel, Nolan Partners and Aspetar to provide critical thought leadership and services to the membership.
Leaders continues to uncover the cutting edge practitioners and organisations in the performance world to bring into the fold and challenge the thinking of those around them.
