After being on the International Ski Federation’s radar for a while, according to President Gian Franco Kasper, the governing body finally launched a new mobile app, which will be available on iOS and Android devices.
“This is an important step forward to present and promote the sport of skiing even better, while enhancing the services to fans of the sport, as well as the FIS membership, our partners and the global media,” Kasper said in a statement.
Created in partnership with international sports marketing company Infront Sports & Media and digital consulting firm OMNIGON, the new app will provide skiing and snowboarding fans a better way to follow international events along with the ability to personalize their experience. Fans can select their favorite countries and athletes to follow and in turn, receive custom content and push notification for each World Cup series.

“The new FIS App offers fans more video content than ever before with some of the material produced exclusively for the platform,” said Claude Ruibal, Infront’s Executive Director Digital, Production & Sport Solutions in a statement. “It is a win-win situation for all parties — the FIS, Infront and Omnigon as well as the skiing and snowboarding fans. Everyone is able to benefit from the synergies of our partnership across the board – delivering unprecedented real time global coverage of the FIS World Cup competitions.”
Additional video content features, like Ruibal alluded to, include near-live clips five minutes after World Cup races and the behind-the-scenes video series for cross country skiing, alpine, nordic combined and other events in order to provide fans a further look at the World Cup series and its participating athletes. Moreover, the FIS App will house social media content to complement the Federation’s editorial production on its website.
