Garmatex Technologies, Inc., a company at the forefront of intelligent fabric and apparel solutions, announced a partnership with BASE360 Inc., a manufacturer of safety products for sports, founded after a youth hockey player suffered a life-threatening injury from a skate laceration. The partnership hopes to prevent injuries, which have become all too common, with a new generation of protective hockey apparel using groundbreaking fabric technologies.
BASE360 produces shirts, pants, and socks with Cut Protection Zones to minimize the risk of severe injuries from skate lacerations. BASE360’s apparel is manufactured using RecoverySkin and Coolskinfabrics, designed by Garmatex, which aid in muscle recovery while also keeping players cool and dry. The apparel also utilizes Bact-Out, an antimicrobial formula from Garmatex, which provides temperature regulation and odor management. The companies are also working together to incorporate Garmatex’s SteelSkin technology into the next line of apparel in order to further improve protective properties.
They introduced the BODYARMOUR line exclusively to Canadian Tire Corporation, Canada’s largest retailer, for the 2014-2015 season.
“We are very excited to work with BASE360 Inc. and Canadian Tire,” says Martin Doane, Chief Executive Officer and President of Garmatex.
“It’s always great to see a new product category come to fruition that can make a difference by improving the safety of players on the ice.”
The partnership is an evolution in hockey apparel that will help reduce injuries on the ice. Hockey players of all levels, including the NHL, are already wearing the cut protective clothing. This collaboration between Garmatex and BASE360 is a great example of teamwork and technology being used to further improve safety in sports. Hopefully more companies take notice.
