Indiana Pacers Partner With PhysiMax To Assess Real-Time Injury Risk, Optimize Workouts

The Indiana Pacers announced a partnership on Tuesday with PhysiMax Technologies, which has visual and machine learning technology to give sports staffers analytics to monitor the health of athletes. This partnership will allow the Pacers to use PhysiMax’s real-time technology to easily assess player injury risk and then build a tailor-made training program to strengthen weaker musculoskeletal areas.

PhysiMax will allow for the Pacers’ training staff to collect personalized data on individual players in order to optimize workouts for each athlete. Players can improve their athletic performance, shorten injury returns and increase their strength. PhysiMax will also help the team measure the biomechanical impact of high training loads throughout an NBA season.

“We are bringing the latest scientifically proven technology for athletic development and injury prevention onto our court,” Pacers director of sports performance Shawn Windle said in a statement. “Our medical team and strength and conditioning staff unanimously chose PhysiMax as our go-to solution. It quickly and easily measures dynamic movement patterns in real-time, objectively scoring players according to the latest evidence-based protocols.”57

PhysiMax’s technology incorporates elements of computer vision and machine learning-based algorithms to automatically analyze full-body dynamic movement parameters. The cloud-based system allows for trainers and coaches to score jumping and landing patterns, pelvic an trunk stabilization, symmetry of motion, dynamic balance and more. This will help training staffs provide appropriate corrective training and rehabilitative therapy.

The Pacers had previously used it to evaluate players leading up to the NBA draft.

“We are excited to bring our technology to the NBA and to be working with a world-class organization such as the Indiana Pacers,” PhysiMax CEO Ram Shalev said in a statement. “Our product has already proven itself to be an essential tool for pro-ball spots, elite military units, college athletics, Olympic level training and outpatient sports medicine providers. We look forward to continuing the work we have already started with the Pacers.”
