Improve Your Swing With Garmin’s Impact Bat Swing Sensor

A lot goes into swinging a bat — swinging it correctly, that is. Every level of the game has become increasingly dependent on analytics like launch angle, exit velocity, bat speed, etc. For refined mechanics you need access to those numbers. That’s why Garmin has created Impact, a bat-swing sensor that instantly delivers metrics and feedback on a swing.

The device, weighing just 34 grams, connects to the knob of a bat. Baseball or softball players of any level can use Impact to determine bat speed, hand speed, time-to-impact, elevation angle and attack angle. Each play an integral part in the construction of a refined swing.

Numbers are displayed right on the sensor after every swing. While not necessary for use, downloading the free Impact app will unlock more value. This is where you can find a 3D swing path of each cut you take. Video capture is also available on the app.

“Garmin has seen great success with our other sports products, like the golf swing sensor, so the addition of the Impact bat swing sensor to the performance training market seemed like a natural fit,” Dan Bartel, Garmin’s VP of Worldwide Sales, said in a statement. “Whether playing baseball or softball, or coaching players, the on-device display and auditory cues on the Impact bat swing sensor allow batters to quickly make adjustments so come game time they can step up to the plate with confidence.”

Impact is an expansion of Garmin’s already-expanding outdoor device line. They have created additional devices aiding triathletes, golfers, cyclists and many more.
