HyperX, which develops products for gamers, is showing that video game culture can blend with an NBA team not only from the business side, but also with one of the league’s biggest stars.
Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid was announced Monday as an official gaming headset brand ambassador for HyperX.
“When I’m not playing basketball, I’m gaming,” Embiid said in a statement. “HyperX headsets are extremely comfortable and the audio quality is amazing. They help me do what I love to do, win.”
HyperX is October had announced that it was the first endemic esports brand to sign an NBA partnership by becoming the official gaming headset partner of the 76ers. Team Dignitas, which was acquired by the 76ers, also uses HyperX products.
Embiid adds to the HyperX roster an All-Star who is an avid gamer and enjoys playing NBA 2K18.
“Skilled as a pro basketball player and recognized as an esports social media star, HyperX welcomes Joel to the HyperX family as a brand ambassador for gaming,” Daniel Kelley, HyperX director of corporate marketing, said in a statement. “We’re looking forward to including Joel in our activities in 2018.”
