Hulu’s Live TV Streaming Service Adds To Sports Lineup With CBS Agreement

Hulu is set to launch a live TV streaming service in the coming months, and it currently has something that recently-launched DirecTV Now does not — an agreement with CBS for its channels which include plenty of sports content.

Hulu announced the agreement last week, giving its future streaming service the ability to carry both CBS and CBS Sports Network. That means Hulu will have the NFL on CBS, the NCAA men’s basketball tournament, SEC football, The Masters along with plenty more college football on CBS Sports Network.

In addition to CBS, Hulu already had agreements to stream the sports content that can be found on FOX and ABC, including FOX Sports Networks and ESPN’s family of networks.

“To build a successful live TV service, you have to have viewers’ favorite sports and shows — and CBS’ programming is absolutely vital to that mix,” Hulu CEO Mike Hopkins said in a statement. “With 21st Century Fox, Disney, Turner and now CBS on board, our new live service will offer one of the most valuable sports, news and entertainment lineups anywhere – from ESPN, Fox Sports, CBS Sports and TNT to ABC, CBS, FOX and The Disney Channel.”

CBS could also eventually come to DirecTV Now, as CBS Corporation president and CEO Leslie Moonves said last month he was assuming he would be able to make a deal with AT&T.
