Hudl Provides U.S. Soccer With Performance Analysis Video Tools In New Partnership

Hudl has announced a comprehensive partnership with U.S. Soccer and the United States National Soccer Teams. Under terms of the deal, the men’s and women’s national teams and all programs managed by U.S. Soccer will have access to Hudl’s premium performance analysis tools, including Sportscode and Coda.

Tab Ramos, the U.S. Soccer Youth Technical Director and U-20 Men’s National Team Head Coach, praised the new partnership. “Utilizing Sportscode and Coda allows for National Team video analysts and coaches to analyze player trends and performances that will influence future training sessions and game preparation.” Ramos said in a statement, “The video analysis tools at our disposal will lead to better feedback between coaches and players and hopefully the ability to gain an advantage before stepping on the field.”

Through Sportscode Elite, coaches and staff can capture live video, collaboratively code in-game events, and perform on-demand analysis. With team staffers tagging key plays, coaches can make adjustments on the fly and immediately show players opportunities for improvement.

With Coda, users create event logs that link to game tape. Video analysts can tailor the workflow to keep track of various metrics like slide tackles, shot attempts, or passes. The flexibility of Coda’s design interface allows teams to adapt the software to suit their needs.

Speaking to Silicon Prairie News, Hudl’s GM of Team Sports, Matt Mueller touched on the significance of the company’s latest client: “It’s our first partnership like this that spans all levels of a sport… It will help coaches improve their athletes as well as the whole system.”

Beyond player development, U.S. Soccer is primed to use Hudl to scout international competition. With approximately 70 percent of World Cup teams using Hudl’s software suite, according to Mueller, this exchange will be more fluid and game preparation will be more focused.
