NEW YORK — Steve Power, Chief Commercial Officer for Catapult Sports, demonstrated the company’s new product by putting on the sports bra-like garment that holds in place technology for athletes looking to get the most out of their workouts. Professional athletes like those on the Golden State Warriors have worn them, and now, Catapult is looking to have those in the amateur sports market do so as well.
Catapult has launched in the U.S. its PLAYERTEK product designed for the amateur soccer and football players, offering a more cost-effective version of the GPS-enabled tracking technology previously been made available to pro and major college sports teams.

PLAYERTEK as of last month had partnered with sports teams of nearly 30 high schools and colleges across more than 20 states, bringing the PLAYERTEK pod that contains advanced GPS and smart sensors to the practice field as players wear them on the upper back of a base-layer garment.
The pod can be wirelessly synced to an iOS app on a mobile device and measures distance, top speed, sprint distance, number of sprints, impacts, player’s power output, intensity, calories burned and work load. Heat maps based on GPS data measure how a player’s positioning changes.
The team version of PLAYERTEK can be used by football, lacrosse, soccer, field hockey and other outdoor sports teams.
