Holotennis Experience At French Open Enables VR ‘Teleportation’ While Trading Shots

French telecommunications company Orange is showcasing a virtual reality tennis experience at the French Open that involves teleportation.

Holotennis enables players wearing HTC Vive headsets and holding controllers to play tennis together on a virtual Philippe Chatrier court and interact with each other while they are in entirely different locations.

Orange partnered with VR company Emissive and another startup in Mimesys, which has holographic meeting technology that uses a camera with 3D depth perception.

The Holotennis experience can be accessed at the RG Lab for visitors to Roland-Garros through June 11.
