There’s a new event on the block in the sports industry and it’s coming to Brooklyn, NY on October 20-22. Hashtag Sports Fest will host over thirty companies in a first-of-its-kind exhibition and conference at the convergence of sports, media, and technology.
Hashtag Sports’ organizing of this event is a natural offline extension of their highly successful #SportsConf virtual conference series that brings together sports industry thought leaders from around the globe.
The purpose of the 3-day event in Brooklyn is to showcase how digital media and emerging technologies are molding the future of sports. As Hashtag Sports Co-Founder, Steve Cobb, tells us the expo will “cover a diverse range of topics including virtual reality, social platforms, daily fantasy sports, eSports, OTT, mobile ticketing, predictive analytics, and wearables.” Over 80 speakers will participate from Twitter, Facebook, FanDuel, ESPN, Brooklyn Nets, AMEX, AIG, NYCFC, NASCAR, NBA, Wasserman, Showtime Sports, and more.
Some speakers of note include:
- Danny Keens, Head of Sports Partnerships, Twitter
- Elisa Padilla, SVP and CMO, Brooklyn Nets and Barclays Center
- Patrick Willis – Former San Francisco 49ers All-Pro Linebacker
- Rudolf Vidal – Managing Director, FC Bayern Munich
- John West, CEO and Co-Founder, Whistle Sports
- Melissa Proctor, VP of Brand Strategy, Atlanta Hawks
Along with this impressive lineup of speakers comes an equally formidable representation of sports tech companies. Some of the most notable are IBM, STRIVR Labs, Athos, Catapult, Krossover, Second Spectrum, Next Galaxy, Vulcun, Grabyo, Omnigon, and Telescope who will be exhibiting across 30,000 square feet at the new Brooklyn EXPO Center in Greenpoint.
The expo floor, Innovation Stage interviews, and Opening Night Party will all be available to sports indstry professionals through a free Expo-Only pass.
“Disruptive trends in technological innovation such as mobile, social, big data, and IoT are rapidly transforming how fans watch and experience sports,” said Cobb. “It is our goal to bring together the entire sports industry and create a much-needed platform for innovation, discovery, and education surrounding this new generation of connected fans and athletes. We couldn’t think of a better place to host this event than the sports capital of the world.”
