Sick of viewing online videos in the standard format on your phone? Do you want to be able to share your favorite sports replays in your favorite Snapchat and Instagram formats like 1:1 (square) or 9:16 (vertical)? Grabyo now has your answer.
There has been growing interest among the millennial generation with square and vertical formats of video sharing on popular social media forums. Square video takes up 42.8% of an iPhone 6 screen compared to the standard horizontal video, which takes up 23.8%. Grabyo, a mobile video and advertising company, has found an easy way for content producers to format videos better on social channels.
Grabyo’s CEO, Gareth Capon aims to make Grabyo the leader in real-time video. The company has teamed up with IMG, Sky Sports, NHL, NFL, Formula E, and Wimbledon.
What was Capon’s motivation for the company? He wanted to build the tools necessary to share videos in real time in order to produce a great social video experience for consumers.
To use Grabyo, simply select the specific vertical or square area of a horizontal video for the specific clip. Choose the time and duration of the clip, and then adjust the selected window around the frame. Users have the choice to distribute their videos across different social medial channels with one-click. Other features include social mentions and user tagging, browser-based user interface, and advanced geo-gating for localization of content. See a clip using Grabyo here:

Grabyo’s goal is to maximize engagement on different social media outlets with the best-formatted videos. “Facebook users scrolling through their feed are more likely to engage with square video than horizontal video, which means broader distribution across the platform,” comments Capon. “So why wouldn’t rights owners and media companies want to use this format?”
What’s cool is to see sport stars talk about the success of viewing and sharing the best clips on Facebook and Twitter in an instant with Grabyo.
The social video industry is on the rise with apps like Snapchat hitting 5 billion video views per day. Grabyo is right behind these outlets with the aim to broader the use of social videos in the sports industry.
