One of the most common excuses to not head to a local gym is lack of time and money. But the Global Cycle Coach App has now thrown those excuses out the window.
Available for the iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch in the App Store, Global Cycle Coach allows users to work out wherever is most convenient for them at a cost much less than buying a gym membership would be.
Opening the app brings the user to a welcome page in which they can take a free trial class to see if they’d be interested in purchasing an actual class. By pressing ‘start here,’ users are introduced to one of the trainers who gives a description of the app and what it has to offer.
The ‘Learn’ tab of the app gives users helpful tips to begin exercising. Users can click on ‘Learn to Spin’ to learn more about what to expect during the spinning classes offered. The pages show how to sit and stand on the bike, what the bike looks like, and where to place your hands while exercising on it. Each page also has a play button in which a trainer will explain what to do to get the most out of the work out.
‘Learn Yoga’ is another option located within the Learn tab. Just like the spinning pages, the Yoga pages have voice descriptions by trainers to explain the different yoga positions being shown.
The ‘Coaches’ tab shows a cartoon of each coach that teaches classes available on the app to give users a depiction of who is directing them. Along with the cartoon picture, each page shows the coaches name, what classes they teach, and their intensity level. Users can also click a play button to hear a little about each trainer and what they have to offer. This tab is convenient because it allows users to learn what to expect before making any commitments to a class.
The three different types of classes offered on the app are cycling, weight training, and yoga. The ‘My Classes’ tab organizes purchased classes based on activity, making it easy for users to navigate. Located on the My Classes tab is a link to the store where users can purchase different classes. Prices for each class range from 99 cents to $5.99, depending on the expertise level and the class length. Classes range from 20 minutes to one hour.
Located under the ‘More’ tab is the ‘Your Achievements’ page. This page encourages users by showing their total workout time, total calories burned, total classes completed, and their BioClock. The ‘More’ tab also allows users to access Global Fitness Apps’ Facebook and Twitter pages as well as their website.
The Global Cycle Coach app has potentially revolutionized fitness experiences by providing a new, affordable, and convenient way for people to get their daily exercise. Users have the convenience of working out in their own home instead of having to drive to a gym, and the classes are much more inexpensive than a gym membership would be.
This app has the potential to grow and include other classes usually found at gyms, and could become serious competition to health centers.
