FOX Sports Launches “Royal Reality” To Take A Virtual Reality Look At The World Series Champs

FOX Sports launched a new Virtual Reality Project called “A Royal Reality” to take an immersive look at the Kansas City Royals’ 2015 World Series title.

“A Royal Reality” features Royals players and fans talking about the spirit of the game and the Royals determination to win the World Series. FOX Sports aims for this video to allow fans to relive the winning experience like never before.

“A Royal Reality” was produced by PAVR and FS1 using VR technology. For optimal viewing, FOX Sports recommends a VR headset like Google Cardboard or Samsung Gear VR. It can also be viewed solely by using a mobile phone via the YouTube app. Simply clicking and holding on the video will also allow users to experience the 360-degree capability of the content.

This new VR technology is a very intriguing way to tell the story of a sports team, but you can see in the video that unless you have an updated web browser for VR/360 or VR headsets, you cannot fully take advantage of the technology.

The video does show some exciting 360 views and builds momentum for fans. Without the VR accessories, “A Royal Reality” is just like any other video except with wider views. If other channels decide to pick up on the VR trend, it seems like the craze will only gain traction if Google and Samsung’s VR great continues to be adopted.
