ELEAGUE Shows Life-Like Virtual Street Fighter Figures In TBS Broadcast

If you tuned into Friday nights TBS broadcast of the Street Fighter V Invitational Playoff, chances are you witnessed virtual game characters on the television screen during coverage of the semifinal and championship.

Through the ELEAGUES’s partnership with Ross Video and The Future Group, augmented Street Fighter characters appeared throughout the competition space, next to analysts and on-stage besides players as well.

The Future Group, which is a mixed reality technology company, utilized its graphics rendering platform called Frontier to develop the augmented characters, which were then distributed by Ross Video. Additionally, Frontier optimized the Unreal gaming engine provided by Epic Games, Inc. to deliver the real-time graphics.

Below are just two of the figures, Guile and Ken, who made an appearance on TBS.

With the technology partnerships, Turner’s graphics coordinators and producers could seamlessly integrate the different characters and visual effects into the live broadcast as if they appeared in real life at the G Fuel ELEAGUE Arena from Turner studios in Atlanta.
