Super Bowl LI has been declared a No Drone Zone. Earlier in the week, it became apparent that went for practices as well.
According to a pool report from Falcons practice at Rice University, a drone needed to be grounded due to security restrictions.
“With the field situated next to a residential area abutting the Rice campus, there was extra security between the edge of the field (with a fence and high hedges) and the neighborhood, so the Falcons could feel secure running a practice as though they were at their home facility,” the report read. “There was only one brief security heads-up: Security officers grounded a drone that was sent airborne by one of the residents in the neighborhood on Thursday.”

Drones are not allowed to fly on Sunday as well anywhere near the big game where the Falcons face the New England Patriots, according to the FAA. Temporary Flight Restrictions will prohibit drones within a 34.5-mile radius of NRG Stadium in downtown Houston from 4 p.m. to 11:59 p.m.
“Drones are becoming much more popular, but they also pose certain safety risks,” FAA Administrator Michael Huerta said in a statement. “We’re working closely with our safety and security partners to spread the No Drone Zone message as widely as possible.”
So the FAA even did a special video about it to spread the word.
