New York, NY. – New York based start-up Dreamfuel, the leading vertical in the sports’ crowdfunding space, is making their tools and technology available to the families of Olympians with support for travel costs and helping to relieve the financial burden of attending the Rio Games this Summer.
Dreamfuel’s team consists of deep experience within crowdfunding, with CEO and Co-Founder Emily White previously managing artists and athletes behind some of the largest crowdfunding campaigns in history, including Olympic gold medalist Anthony Ervin, whose World Cup campaign was the impetus of founding Dreamfuel. Since then, the platform has generated funding for Olympians Roland Schoeman, Margaux Farrell, Chad Ho, Erik Risolvato, Azad Al-Barazi, Maria Lamb, Belle Brockhoff, Chelsea Hayes and Kelsey Campbell, as well as National Team members David Plummer, Cody Miller, Lindsay Vrooman, Christine Jennings, Toby Stanley, Joshua Hall, Eetu Karvonen and Lisa Blackburn.

White, a Division I scholarship athlete herself, states: “Every Olympics, my heart breaks for the families whose child qualifies for the biggest sporting event on earth, yet has to stay home and watch their daughter or son compete on TV. The funds aren’t always there for families to get to the Olympics to cheer and support their athletes in person. Dreamfuel wants to provide support along the way as much as their coaches and teammates do.”
White continues, “An average U.S. Olympic hopeful’s salary is $15,000/year. Both the emotional and financial investments families of Olympic hopefuls make towards the success of their child athletes includes everything from pre-dawn drives to training and competitions, to larger-than-average grocery bills, costly equipment, training and so much more.”
The highly competitive U.S. swimming trials wrap up July 3rd; U.S. track trials end July 10th, and the Rio Olympics begin on August 5th. Thus, families won’t find out if their child will be competing in the 2016 Olympics in Brazil until just a few weeks before the Games begin, making planning a last minute international trip a burden for most.
The Dreamfuel team is on-site at USA Swimming’s Olympic Trials in Omaha, Nebraska this week to meet with athletes’ families in person and get their Dreamfuel campaigns up and launched as soon as they know they have a child on the 2016 Olympic Team.
