DICK’S Sporting Goods Acquires Live Scoring App GameChanger Media


On Monday, DICKS Sporting Goods continued its investment in its digital youth sports offerings, announcing the acquisition of live scoring app GameChanger Media. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The app, which delivers play-by-play updates and scoring for 165,000 youth baseball and softball teams, will be integrated into DICKS Team Sports HQ like the company’s other recent youth acquisitions of Blue Sombrero and Affinity Sports.

Stack, Chairman/CEO of DICK’S Sporting Goods in a statement. “GameChanger will allow us to provide the baseball and softball communities better tools and in-game information for coaches, players and fans alike.We believe the addition of GameChanger and its unique in-game mobile experience to DICK’S Team Sports HQ strongly supports our efforts to provide unparalleled technological capabilities to youth, prep teams and leagues across the country.”

Added Ted Sullivan, VP/CEO of GameChanger in a statement: “GameChanger exists to serve the needs of coaches, parents and volunteers who dedicate so much time and energy to amateur sports. And now as part of the DICK’S Sporting Goods family, we look forward to further enhancing the youth sports experience for these team communities.”

According to Tech Crunch, GameChanger has gone through seven rounds of funding since 2009, raising $10.63 million.
