Diamond Kinetics Announces Louisville, Vanderbilt Baseball As ‘Premier Collegiate Partners’

Baseball technology and motion analytics company Diamond Kinetics announced Tuesday that the Louisville and Vanderbilt baseball programs would be the initial “Premier Collegiate Partners.”

The new relationship will see both programs use sensor technology not only provided by Diamond Kinetics, but also its partners Axon Sports and HitTrax Baseball — the first and only baseball simulator.

This past summer, the three companies formed a partnership at the LakePoint Sporting Community outside of Atlanta to take players through a three-step hitting and training experience. Axon Sports first assessed players’ pitch recognition skills followed by Diamond Kinetics analyzing and quantifying key metrics of their swing. Finally, HitTrax calculated the data on each hit.

“Working with all three is complex data made simple and easy to use,” Louisville baseball coach Dan McDonnell said in a statement. “It’s working cognitive and physical skills to be a great hitter. These three resources will help us get one step closer to being the scariest lineup in the country and help us win a National Championship.”

Added Vanderbilt coach Tim Corbin in a statement: “Through our partnership with Diamond Kinetics, our players are able to receive the real-time feedback in the cage that would typically occur on the field. We spend a lot of time teaching our hitters about ball flight and what works best for their skill set. SwingTracker provides us with valuable metrics and 3D tools to provide another great way of teaching this.”
