Dell EMC has announced the company’s first NASCAR sponsorship by teaming up with JTG Daugherty Racing. This partnership is the latest example of technological growth in NASCAR to improve performance. Through Dell EMC solutions, JTG Daugherty plans to enhance its performance on the track and in the shop floor.
“During races, we are required to execute race simulations, perform database mining, utilize race strategy software, monitor pit crew data systems, and much more,” No. 37 BUSH’S Beans Chevrolet race engineer Brian Burns said in a statement. “With everyone in the group depending on you to give them quick and accurate answers, Dell EMC has answered the call with the perfect solutions for our rugged and fast-paced environment.”

Some of the specific solutions from Dell EMC that will benefit JTG Daugherty are the Dell Precision 7510 Mobile Workstations and the Dell Edge Gateway 5000 Series. The Mobile Workstations will help with productivity and power simulation workloads while the Edge Gateway 5000 Series gains real-time insights about timing and scoring, before communicating this information directly from the track to a server.
The team will also be supplied with Dell Latitude laptops and tablets to support race engineers and tire specialists. Through barcodes, the Dell Latitude 12 Rugged Tablet will improve tire matching. The laptops will run real-time decision making software, allowing these engineers to make smarter, quicker decisions by the track or in the garage. The resulting analytics can offer JTG Daugherty a powerful competitive advantage, according to Burns.
“Those guys are out there racing on the race track. We’re racing to provide information to our teams and crew chiefs so they can make the best decisions,” Burns said.
What took hours before, now we can now make a run in a simulation for shorter than it takes to make a lap on the race track.”
