David Beckham Becomes Ambassador For Meerkat And Periscope Rival

Beckham on MyEye

World famous soccer player, David Beckham, became a founding investor for the new British startup app, MyEye. Similar to Meerkat and Periscope, MyEye allows users to film, watch and share live clips with just a flick of a finger. Within the first 48 hours, Beckham got over four million people to download the app.

MyEye was started by British tech entrepreneurs Mark Bettering and Lee Musgrave with partner Paul Kavanagh. The idea began when Kavanagh wanted to share a video of fireworks with his family around the world. With the app you are able to publicly share your video clips or you can become private. MyEye is unique compared to Meerkat and Periscope because it offers privacy settings that you can adjust around geography. The app comes with a globe tab which you can zoom in on other videos from around the world. It allows you to discover new people and places.

Video clips last 72 hours and once the video is gone, you are not able to see it again, much like the app Snapchat. Meerkat and Periscope only allows users up to 24 hours to view videos once it is uploaded. Although MyEye is platform independent, users are still able to link their profiles and share videos to other social media accounts.

The app is geared to athletes, pop stars and entertainers as a new way to engage with fans. The more views and reactions a video gets, the more popular the clip becomes. If an icon has a crown on it, then that video is the most popular in the world. As of now, Beckham’s video is the most popular.

“I’m always looking to back and support British businesses that have the ability and vision to do something truly transformational on the global stage, and I believe that MyEye has the potential to change the way people interact through social media,” said Beckham. “I have been cautious about the partners I work with in the digital world and I’ve been very impressed with Paul, Mark and Lee. They have a great track record of building successful businesses and I’m excited to collaborate with them going forward.”

MyEye, another app that could remodel social media, is available for free on iOS and Androids.
