Buying tickets has always been a bit of a take-an-educated-guess approach to sit in the best seat for the best price. Even die-hard fans don’t know the pros and cons to each seat in a team arena. But the Dallas Mavericks seem to understand these issues that fans experience. The Mavs have partnered with Tixsee to revolutionize the ticket purchase process with a fully immersive shopping experience at Mavs.com.
Tixsee, a technology company specializing in the development of screen-based products and immersive virtual environment technologies, has provided the Mavericks with a first for professional sports.
The Mavericks explains their new capabilities with Tixsee as, “a 360 degree panoramic virtual tour powered by Google Street View, and will utilize the largest Google Business View virtual tour ever shot and published to Google Maps. The tour is comprised of 12,444 high-resolution panoramic photos stitched together to create 1,037 360 degree images.”
The Tixsee virtual shopping experience will allow customers to pick a potential seat, see there view from that seat, and also take note of what is around them, such as concession locations, restrooms, and merchandise.
“We’re excited to give our fans a new, interactive way to tour our arena and find the perfect seat to a Mavs game,” said Ken Bonzon, Chief Technical Officer of the Dallas Mavericks.
It will be interesting to see if any other teams follow the Mavericks lead with this new technology. It certainly seems like a useful tool to help make it even easier for fans to find the exact seats they are looking for at a Mavs game.
