Cobra Connect Powered by Arccos System Tracks Shots From New Smart Golf Drivers

Golf performance tracker Arccos and Cobra Golf announced on Tuesday the launch of the Cobra Connect Powered by Arccos shot-tracking and GPS system in a collection of smart drivers.

An ultralight sensor is embedded in the grip of the KING F7 and KING F7+ and KING LTD Black clubs, enabling golfers to track distance and accuracy of every drive. Cobra Connect allows them to pair the club with the free ArccosDriver smartphone app to receive the performance data and access rangefinder GPS distances for 40,000 courses.

The phone must be carried in a user’s front pocket, and then Cobra Connect Powered by Arccos communicates at shot impact with the phone and uses a shot detection algorithm and sensors to identify the location of the second shot in order to calculate driving distance and accuracy. After the round, golfers can review their driving performance, track improvement, and share stats with their friends.

“Golfers appetite for data is certainly growing as more and more attention on Tour is paid to player statistics from Shotlink,” COBRA Golf VP of Research & Development Tom Olsavsky said in a statement. “Creating Smart Clubs by adding the COBRA CONNECT Powered by Arccos technology allows us to satisfy that appetite and provide our consumers with direct access to the type of data that’s used by Tour pros. We believe seeing these insights will help golfers of all skill levels improve their performance and have more fun.”

The KING LTD Black is available in stores Nov. 18. The KING F7 and KINGF7+ drivers are available in stores Jan. 13, 2017, and there is a Ladies F7 Driver that has Cobra Connect Powered by Arccos integrated as well.
