Drone-wielding athletes have made headlines multiple times over the past year. But one of the more painful times the machine was in the spotlight was when Cleveland Indians pitcher Trevor Bauer’s drone sliced his pinkie before the American League Championship Series against the Toronto Blue Jays. The injury sent Bauer to the emergency room to get stitches and caused him to exit Game 3 early when his finger began to ooze blood.
The injury probably wasn’t funny then, but now Bauer is getting some laughs about it now.
The Reno Aces, the Triple-A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks who selected Bauer third overall in the 2011 draft, announced they would be giving away Trevor Bauer Drone Bobbleheads on Aug. 19.
When Bauer found out about the fan giveaway, he took to Twitter to have some fun saying, “ I may have to fly in for this.”
And he made it clear, there are no hard feelings about giving away the bobblehead, so long as the Aces send him one.
I may have to “fly” in for this….. https://t.co/h5DD9mzS5s

Some fans may wonder why a professional athlete was piloting a drone in the first place. For Bauer, it is a hobby. Bauer uses his drone to capture video footage of people’s reactions to his drone, at Tropicana Field during warm ups and more.
