CBS Sports Streams New Sports Gambling Show SportsLine Edge

CBS Sports has launched a new show dedicated to sports gambling called SportsLine Edge. The show debuted before Thursday’s NFL opener on the CBS Sports HQ free 24/7 streaming service. Hosted by Nick Kostos, it features former Caesars Palace oddsmaker Todd Fuhrman and SportsLine experts Hank Goldberg, Kenny White, Micah Roberts, and Kelly Stewart.

SportsLine is a sports betting service that provides metrics-driven analysis and has a history of partnerships with CBS Sports. SportsLine Edge will initially air from 6 to 8 p.m. every Monday and Thursday, Saturdays from 11 a.m. to noon with an additional 30-minute segment from 2:30 to 3 p.m., and on Sundays from noon to 1 p.m. plus a 30-minute segment from 3:30 to 4 p.m. (All times ET.) The show will expand to stream every day in the coming weeks, according to a CBS Sports press release.

“The show will be a valuable destination for sports fans leading up to and in between the marquee matchups of the day, providing picks against the spread, analysis of line movement, and daily fantasy lineups,” according to the press release.

CBS Sports HQ debuted this past February as part of a collaboration between CBS Sports and CBS Interactive. It currently streams for free on the CBS Sports website and mobile app, as well as connected streaming devices such as Roku, Apple TV, and Amazon Fire TV.

A recent Nielsen report stated that the NFL could increase its profits by $2.3 billion annually as more states legalize sports betting. Last month, DraftKings launched a mobile sportsbook at Metlife Stadium in New Jersey, marking the first NFL game in which fans could place bets from inside a professional football stadium.

In May, the U.S. Supreme Court reversed a federal ban on sports gambling, though New Jersey, Delaware, Nevada, West Virginia, and Mississippi are currently the only states with full-scale legalized sports betting. But as sports betting grows and daily fantasy sports continue to soar in popularity, CBS Sports’s plans to produce a daily show that offers beneficial data analysis and commentary to daily fantasy players and sports bettors makes a lot of sense.
