Bud Light, Viewer Ready Provide NBA Fans Free Throw Shooting VR Experience In New Orleans

Professional basketball players have been incorporating virtual reality free throw shooting into their training. At NBA All-Star weekend in New Orleans, fans got a little taste of what that experience is like.

Bud Light, the official beer of the NBA, took over 211 Royal Street in New Orleans’ French Quarter and brought fans an experience featuring live music, classic food and a VR Challenge that allowed fans to practice their form at the line.

The experience was produced by virtual reality production company Viewer Ready and was built off of a VR experience the company put together last year, a Bud Light VR game in Madison Square Garden.

During the VR experience, users are placed at the free throw in the arena and are challenged to make as many baskets as possible while being cheered on or booed, depending on the players’ skills.

There is also a webcam that allows users to watch themselves play, and a short video that is emailed to each player after they are finished.
