Brand New T-Mobile Arena In Las Vegas Is A Hi-Tech Palace In The Desert

The brand new, state-of-the-art T-Mobile Arena, just opened on April 6th in Las Vegas. With the Help of MGM and AEG, the new arena is ready to begin hosting all kinds of events, as The Killers officially opened the arena last night to the public. However, the real hope is to eventually land a major professional sports franchise, in either the NHL or NBA.

T-Mobile Arena, located directly west of the Las Vegas Strip, will seat upwards of 20,000 people depending on the event, in its 650,000 square foot space, spanning five levels. The seating was designed to accommodate viewing for everyone, from the upper deck, to the floor.

After spending $375 million over the last two years the arena will be able to host a multitude of events, from concerts to sports. A brand new 3-story scoreboard will hang above the venue, while fans get to enjoy a great wireless network, with T-Mobile’s 4G LTE network optimized in the arena, along with Wi-Fi and phone charging stations throughout.

T-Mobile customers will be able to enjoy VIP access, as well as fast-pass tickets to quickly get through lines, and advanced tickets and seat upgrades.

Las Vegas has been in the hunt for a professional sports franchise for years, so MGM, AEG, and T-Mobile made sure that this arena would be ready to be that team’s home, if and when the time comes. They designed T-Mobile Arena to be able to host NHL or NBA games, making sure they could accommodate a regulation ice rink as well as an NBA sized hardwood floor. The arena is already outfitted with Zambonis, and an ice rink or hardwood basketball court is ready to be put in on a moments notice. Also, NHL and NBA locker rooms have been built inside the arena that meet both league’s specifications.

Rick Arpin, the Senior Vice President for Entertainment at MGM said “We made sure that we had every amenity, infrastructure, bell-and-whistle that a hockey or NBA team would need, were they to decide to make their home here.”

T-Mobile Arena and its partners are not simply waiting around for those sports to come calling. One of the first prime time sporting events that T-Mobile Arena will host is the highly anticipated boxing match between Canelo Alvarez and Amir Khan, on May 7th. Then later this summer, the venue will host UFC 200, a huge event for fight fans, on July 9th.

The new T-Mobile Arena will host many concerts and entertainment events, as well as boxing and UFC. However, only time will tell if this brand new arena helps Las Vegas land their coveted NHL or NBA team, but if that time does come, they will be ready.
