Increasingly, teams are wising up to the importance of sleep for their athletes and are looking for ways to better understand how their players rest and ultimately recover.
This is especially important with a sport like baseball, where players play nearly every day and poor rest can result in throwing off a player’s focus for multiple games at a time. With baseball currently in the final stretches of the season, this can be the difference between advancing to the playoffs and having the whole offseason to think about what might have been.
The Boston Red Sox have always been known as a forward-thinking team, and it is of little surprise that they recently announced a partnership with Bedgear to increase the quality of sleep and recovery of the players, coaches, trainers as well as the surrounding community. This will be a multi-year agreement that will eventually lead to a fully customized Red Sox Sleep Room at Fenway Park in 2017 with performance bedding gear.
“The more we learn about how sleep affects our overall health and well-being, the more we understand how critical it is for athletes who are looking to perform at the highest level,” said Red Sox Executive Vice President Troup Parkinson. “Our partnership with Bedgear to provide performance bedding in the Red Sox sleep room is an example of the clubs continued effort to provide a quality sleep environment for our players during a demanding an taxing baseball season.”

Bedgear sent us some of the Bedgear performance bedding, and while it doesn’t have the appearance of anything different than other sleep products, sleep is definitely improved with the bedding when combined with the Bedgear performance pillow that is tailored to one’s exact sleeping style and height. With sleep products forever being fit for a one-size-fits-all type of model, the custom products lead to better and more consistent sleep.
“Bedgear and the Boston Red Sox share the same goal of observing all paths that lead to a healthier team. Getting recovery at night is fundamental to optimal health and wellness, no matter who you are or what you do each day. Our two year partnership will consist of several initiatives that reinforce the importance of quality sleep for performance and achievement on and off the field. We are extremely excited about our new relationship with the Red Sox and look forward to bringing awareness of performance bedding to crowds at Fenway Park and beyond,” said Eugene Alletto, Founder & CEO of Bedgear.
Bedgear late last year partnered with the Super Bowl 50 champion Denver Broncos, and it makes sense to expect more teams to follow their lead.
As an additional aspect of this partnership, Bedgear will also support the Red Sox community and fans through a variety of events at Fenway, and throughout the city of Boston to bring awareness of healthy sleep habits to youth and families. At the start of the 2017 season Bedgear will fit the team’s players and coaches with personalized performance pillows and sheets during Spring Training in Fort Myers, Fla. as well to have the same sleep performance technology at the site of their spring training facility.
