BlazePod: Flash Reflex Training For The Masses

Touch. Train. Touch. Repeat.

BlazePod is a modular touch capacitive workout aid that communicates with each other — and your mobile device — to enhance your workout. Think Whac-A-Mole meets high-intensity interval training.

The Miami-based fitness and technology startup successfully met its funding goal on Indiegogo.

BlazePod’s premise comes from a unique training method the company refers to as “flash reflex training” in which athletes are challenged to touch, kick or smash sensors like mini checkpoints throughout their workout.

BlazePods sit on the ground in their most traditional use case, but also incorporate straps and suction cups to bring variation to workouts. The system functions with as few as two sensors and as many as 24. According to the company’s Indiegogo page, BlazePods get a full charge from 45 minutes on their USB charging dock and can be stacked up to six at a time for a fill up.

In-app connectivity tracks users’ reaction times down to the millisecond and offers trainers an avenue to monitor their clients’ progress. Already preloaded with 100 exercises, the BlazePod app also integrates with Google Fit and Apple Health Kit.

“For years, Flash Reflex exercise was for pro athletes only, complex to operate and priced at thousands of dollars. BlazePod is here to change that”, Yaniv Shneiderman, founder and CEO of BlazePod, said in a statement.

Thus far, between both Kickstarter and Indiegogo, BlazePod has raised over $169,000, and has an initial scheduled shipping date of November.
