Blast Motion, a company at the forefront of wearable technologies, recently announced its newest contribution to the sports world, Blast Golf. Blast Golf is part of the company’s sport motion capture solutions that records putter strokes and driver swings, capturing real-time performance metrics of players’ swings. These performance metrics are then shareable through social media, messaging, and e-mail.
Blast Golf utilizes a proprietary algorithm that detects different golf metrics, like swing speed for driving, and loft and lie for putting, for example. The data is then available for instant review or can be stored for later use. The technology also allows users to identify trends through the stats and graphs that the app delivers.

The Blast Motion precision motion sensor attaches to most putters and drivers securely and discretely. Blast Golf incorporates bluetooth technology to send the recorded data and analytics to smartphones or tablets during play. The technology is paired with an iOS app that enables Smart Video Capture, which automatically captures video highlights that are made available to share online.
Donovan Prostrollo, Senior Director of Marketing of Blast Motion, stated: “We’re combining motion metrics with video to create a very personal user experience, where golfers can literally ‘see’ the mechanics of their swing, and socially share their long and short game in a whole new way.”
The Blast Motion precision motion sensor weighs less than half an ounce and easily attaches to most regulation putters without impacting a player’s stroke. It is currently available for $149.95 at blastmotion.com and select retailers. The Blast Golf app is available in the iTunes store.
