Sporting clubs of all shapes and sizes around the globe are utilizing technology to find the best way to connect with fans and increase brand awareness. Some have tried live streaming packages, some have tried data mining to best relate to the needs and wants of their customers, but the Association of Tennis Professionals has created it’s very own social media app that will allow fans from anywhere in the world to connect and participate in the world tennis arena.

ATP, along with social networking company, Vixlet, recently launched an app called MyATP. Tennis fans who wish to connect with peers that share similar interests will use the app, as well as those interested in following their favorite athletes’ progress.

“There is no doubt that the advent of social media has revolutionized the way in which people are engaging with their interests and passions,” said Chris Kermode, ATP Executive Chairman & President. “I am pleased that the ATP, together with Vixlet, are at the forefront of this new technology that will enable fans to experience the ATP World Tour on a level never imagined before.”

The app itself has an array of different options that a user can experience, one of the most impressive being the ability to choose an athlete that brings up a feed that allows the user to receive all the news and updates regarding that athlete.

The ‘Player’s Lounge’ allows users to interact with their favorite stars through a portal that is used by both athletes and fans, and the ‘Fan Forum’ area is where fans can go to talk all things tennis, whether it be photos, making predictions or simply showing support.

These features are just the beginning of what will build toward this year’s Barclays World Tour Finals, and will act as a promotion tool for the highly anticipated series.

Vixlet, a small social networking company from Los Angeles, is excited to have made this breakthrough partnership to demonstrate their work on a global scale.

“ATP has always strived to be at the leading edge of innovation when it comes to delivering unique experiences for its fans around their passion for tennis,” said Krishna & Lisa, Co-Founders of Vixlet. “In continuance of this spirit, we feel very privileged and excited to have worked with ATP to reimagine the digital future of fans, tournaments, and players with MyATP whilst pushing the frontiers of social media.”

Not only will the new app promote the World Tour, but it also has the ability to promote tennis as a sport, and will benefit from the software’s global reach. Quite possibly the best thing about social media for business, is that geographically, there are no limitations. The MyATP app will do a tremendous job at bringing people from afar together, and putting tennis is the forefronts of more people’s minds.
