The NBA’s Atlanta Hawks are upping their analytics game to learn more about their fans.
The team announced Thursday that it has expanded its relationship with KORE Software. KORE builds sports management software and offers products covering sponsorships, suites, ticketing, and fan engagement to more than 100 professional sports clubs and leagues.
The Hawks plan to use KORE to “better harness, analyze, and integrate data” collected from fans and other people who attend State Farm Arena for events, according to an announcement.
“With the fan’s experience being a top priority, we felt compelled to ramp up our data systems and capabilities and expand our data footprint,” said Dave Elgin, the Hawks’ vice president of analytics, in a statement.
The Hawks have been using KORE technology since 2012 to manage partner relationships, sponsorships, and ticketing.

Leagues and teams are increasingly relying on data about fans to improve the experience for their supporters and to drive event attendance. Analytics can enable teams to get granular on performance metrics. Access to data is one reason why teams are adopting new technologies, such as mobile ticketing, that enable them to better identify the people attending events and spending money.
