On Monday, Catapult Sports announced a new way to help the players, coaches and fans of “America’s game,” according to North American President Brian Kopp. The sports wearable, data and analytics company revealed its baseball performance analytics — powered through its wearable OptimEye S5 — which will help lessen players’ risk of injury and increase their performance on the diamond.
“The launch of our baseball analytics platform and services highlights our commitment to being the best data analytics and device partner for professional sports leagues and teams around the world,” Catapult North American President Brian Kopp said in a statement. “This is one of those exciting moments when we’re able to bring a completely new opportunity to the market.”

The OptimEye S5 device and machine learning will assist both hitters and pitchers with the goal of helping them more accurately understand their workload as sensors quantify their every movement. Some performance analytics will include swing count and pitch count along with pitch load that can assist coaches in analyzing the intensity of each throwing or practice session. Additionally, coaches and players will gain more information around a player’s swing load and the force and explosiveness he or she possesses at the plate.
Currently, more than 1,100 professional teams utilize the OptimEye S5 from Catapult, which acquired companies XOS Digital and PlayerTek in 2016 to enhance their player-tracking capabilities. Catapult Sports counts organizations such as the New York Giants, AC Milan, Dallas Mavericks, Minnesota Vikings, Seattle Sounders and Boston Celtics as clients.
