Amazon Alexa Will Now Wait On Seattle Mariners Fans In Private Suites At Safeco Field

Seattle Mariners fans sitting in private suites at Safeco Field during games will no longer have to wait for waitstaff to come and take their orders when they want a burger for dinner or another Coke. Now, the suites feature Amazon Alexa, an intelligent personal assistant device that was developed by Amazon and takes requests.

The Amazon Echo with Alexa is installed in 59 suites at the Mariners’ ballpark. In addition to taking people’s orders, the device can get the Mariners’ schedule, play Mariners trivia, change the channel, adjust the television volume and more by using the voice prompt, “Alexa, ask the Mariners to…”

Suite guests are also able to see the live feed from two cameras that coaches and scouts use. The Home Plate Sky Cam looks directly down at home to show baseballs as they cross the plate. The Pitcher Cam is mounted on the screen just behind the catcher and gives a view of what the batter sees.

“We are always excited to bring Alexa to customers in new ways, and we think Alexa will provide a delightful in-suite experience for guests,” Amazon Alexa VP Steve Rabuchin said in a statement. “With Alexa, ordering food and drink, changing the channel, or getting game updates at the ballpark will be as easy as asking a question.”

According to the team, Alexa will interact with in-suite televisions to feature digital news content and messages during a game broadcast.

“As our partnership with Amazon Alexa evolves, we envision adding new skills and interactive features that will further enhance our suite guests’ game day experiences,” Dave Curry, the Vice President of Seattle Mariners’ Information Services, said in a statement.

Amazon Alexa can also be used to make to do lists, play music, provide weather and traffic updates and more.
