Airbnb Teams Up With Denver Broncos’ Matt Paradis, Max Garcia For BBQ At Their Home

Airbnb has paired up with Matt Paradis and Max Garcia of the Super Bowl champion Denver Broncos just in time for the NFL season. The offensive linemen are preparing to open the doors of their Denver home to a lucky winner and a plus-one to a day of BBQ-stuffed bellies and opening-weekend football.

Entering the “Matt & Max / Airbnb Kickoff BBQ Sweepstakes” has concluded, but the winner will sit couch-side next to the two Broncos on their off day and enjoy Sunday’s NFL kickoff on television.

The San Francisco-based lodging website has been up and running since 2008. From staying in a castle in England, to a studio loft in Chicago, Airbnb has created a unique accommodation experience for more than 60 million people in 191 countries.

But what about in Denver? The Broncos contest for Airbnb capitalizes on the Denver City Council’s decision to adopt new rules regarding short-term home rentals in June.

After weeks of debate, the council passed a law that regulated short-term lodging rentals in the city (ding ding ding, Airbnb). The ordinance legalized short-term rentals for less than 30 days, specifically through a host’s primary residence.

This niche area targets Airbnb specifically and opens other opportunities for similar sites and lodging options.

According to the Denver Post, the ordinance does not allow short-term rentals for second homes and investment properties. That could cut the estimated 2,000 Denver listings on Airbnb.

But the door was opened for Matt and Max, and they wasted no time.

The space in their home accommodates two guests. Check-in is listed as anytime after 11 a.m. with check-out around at 6 p.m. Another tidbit that Matt and Max note is the possibility that any number of their Broncos teammates could drop by, which would be heavy incentive for die-hard fans.

With these new avenues opening and restrictions narrowing across the country, Airbnb may see more opportunities like this one. Athletes could end up opening their homes regularly giving fans unique experiences. One NFL player, Roman Harper, already did during the Super Bowl 50 — while playing in the game against Matt and Max.
