Running buffs get excited: a new artificial intelligence personal trainer is on its way to production in August.
Enter the Vi by LifeBEAM.
LifeBEAM has been known for their state-of-the-art wearable technology since 2011 when they developed bio-sensing technologies and feedback systems for clients like NASA and the US Air Force. One of their more recent successful projects was the LifeBEAM Smart Helmet, which monitored calorie intake and heart rate using an aerospace-grade sensor.
The Kickstarter campaign for Vi began on June 1st with a goal of $100,000. Well, in a mere 90 minutes, that goal was met. Not only was it met but DOUBLED within 24 hours of its start.
So what is it that is getting backers eager to click the pledge button?
Between the hearable device made with Harman/Kardon technology and the in-house personal trainer that has real-time insights and can read data from multiple fitness apps, this device has a lot going for it. If you watched through the video above, you can see exactly how Vi coaches you through your workout and continues to motivate you to do better. Not only does Vi speak to you, but also has speech recognition to commands such as “how’s my heart rate” and “am I in my (heart rate) zone”.
Additionally, the design of the product is sleek and comfortable. The surface of the device is textured to be non-slip and is sweat proof so it stays in place.
As of right now, Vi works best for runners but the developers plan to update the software soon to be useful for other types of workouts as well such as swimming and biking.
The Early Bird deal has already sold out of all 400 that were available but you can still pledge $199 to secure yourself a pair of Vi headphones and charging case (which is $50 of retail price).
