The UFC is one of the most social sports leagues today, with 93% of their fighters having a registered account on either Twitter, Facebook or Instagram. Twitter is the most popular platform among UFC fighters with 91% of fighters having a verified account. Facebook is the number two most popular platform in the UFC with 76% of fighters using it, and Instagram comes in third with 66%.
Instagram may be in third place in terms of usage, but it’s first in terms of what’s grabbing engagement for UFC athletes. In fact, of the top 100 most engaging posts to social media by UFC fighters in the last 30 days, Instagram registers posts 1-26, with the number one post coming from Ronda Rousey.
Speaking of Ronda Rousey, she’s the number one fighter on social media in the UFC, and her engagement justifies her ranking. Of the top 100 posts to social media in the last 30 days, Ronda Rousey has the entire top 38, and 41 of the top 50. Connor McGregor, the second ranked UFC fighter, holds 8 of the top 50 spots this month. The only other fighter to crack the top 50 posts in the last 30 days was Alexander Gustafsson, with this Facebook post holding down the 44th place spot.
