Xiaomi’s newest fitness wearable device is hitting the market just in time for China’s massive Singles Day online shopping festival on November 11. Similar to the company’s first device, the new Mi Band Pulse gives users even better opportunities to track their fitness.
The Mi Band Pulse mimics the original Xiaomi wearable. Each waterproof device tracks your steps, sleep, and the amount of calories burned. You can keep the data recorded when you sync with the app. The wearables have alarms and alerts for users. Now, the Mi Band Pulse also includes a heart rate tracker. It uses PPG to measure your heart rate.
The devices help users achieve daily exercise targets, making it easier to reach a healthier lifestyle. It measures the length and quality of your sleep. And from there you can get action plans to improve your sleep. There are vibration monitors to notify users of alerts on the consumer’s smartphone, or the smart vibration alarm goes off 30 minutes before the alarm goes off. This allows users to wake up gradually and naturally.
The wearable works with Android (4.4 or later) and iOS (iPhone 4S/iOS 7.0 upwards) devices. Both the original and the Mi Band Pulse are sold for much cheaper than a Fitbit. Mi Band costs about $11 and the Mi Band Pulse will be about $16. The cheapest activity-tracking device from Fitbit starts at $99.95.
As of now, the Mi Band Pulse is not available outside of China. The original wearable by Xiaomi made the company the second largest seller of wearable, only after Fitbit. It has been sold in India, Europe and the U.S. The success of Mi Band gives customers the expectation that the Mi Band Pulse will also be released to international markets.
