Social media sharing platform 15 Seconds of Fame (15SOF) has kicked off Q1 of 2017 with a few new partnerships.
The New York-based technology company announced Monday a multi-year deal with the Big Ten Network where the two companies will deliver personalized video highlights to fans starting with the 2017 college football season.
Fans can download the 15SOF app and upload a selfie, with facial recognition software and proprietary technology detecting if a fan appears on BTN. Those fans who do catch some air time will be emailed a digital video clip that they can then share across social media.
“With some of the most passionate fans in all of sports, the Big Ten is the perfect audience for 15SOF and BTN to introduce a technology that will change the fan experience and help preserve once-in-a-lifetime memories,” Brett Joshpe, CEO of 15SOF said in a statement. “This content, which can be shared with the tap of button, is the ultimate event takeaway for fans and an incredibly valuable vehicle for brands to engage with targeted consumers in a personal way.”

Added Michael Calderon, Big Ten Network SVP of Programming and Digital Media in a statement: “BTN strives to be an innovator, and we aim to deliver the best game-day telecasts and experience to college fans. Our partnership with 15SOF adds a truly unique, first-of-its-kind element in college sports.”
Last month, 15SOF announced a similar deal with Major League Baseball Advanced Media which will see fans receive their “ultimate selfie” after they appear on in-stadium jumbotrons or MLB broadcasts this season.
In 2015, the University of Michigan was the first professional and college sports team to beta-test the technology. Since the company’s founding in 2014, 15SOF has partnered with the likes of the Cleveland Cavaliers and New Jersey Devils, among other organizations.
