Triple injury concern for Boks

South Africa have three injury doubts ahead of next weekend's Rugby World Cup semi-final against New Zealand at Twickenham.

Hooker Bismarck du Plessis (hand injury) and lock Lood de Jager (foot tendon) picked up injuries in their quarter-final win over Wales.

Meanwhile, veteran lock Victor Matfield is still recovering from a hamstring strain with team doctor Craig Roberts saying on Sunday that he would be assessed during the week.

Francois Louw accidentally stood on Du Plessis’ hand at Twickenham, causing a big laceration which required stitches.

De Jager hurt his foot early in the Welsh game but played through the pain.

"Bismarck (du Plessis) has a nasty laceration to his right hand. Flo (Flourie du Preez) accidently stood on his hand – luckily no fracture but it is a bit sore and swollen for him so we will keep an eye on him throughout the week," said Roberts in a medical update.

"Lood (de Jager) has injured a tendon in his foot so we need to give him some time to see how that settles and we will make a decision later in the week on his availability for the All Blacks game.

"Victor (Matfield) has been doing really well with his rehab, when you're older it takes a lot longer for you to recover. He has been working really hard and progressing nicely but will have to see nearer the end of the week."
