Here’s the 10 Five/Six Nations Tests that registered the highest total points scored by the competing sides.
(10) 74 – France 43-31 Ireland. Ireland were on the receiving end of a thrashing against les Bleus in this 2006 Test at the Stade de France in Paris. France outscored their opponents six tries to four with David Marty and Cedric Heymans scoring a brace each. Olivier Magne and Aurelien Rougerie also dotted down while Jean-Baptiste Elissalde contributed 13 points via five conversions and a penalty. Ronan O'Gara, Gordon D'Arcy, Andrew Trimble and Donncha O'Callaghan crossed the whitewash for the visitors.
(9) 75 – Italy 24-51 Ireland. Ireland put a half century of points past the Azzurri in a one-sided affair in Rome in 2007. For Ireland, Girvan Dempsey and Denis Hickey crossed for two tries apiece and their other five-pointers were scored by Gordon D'Arcy, Simon Easterby, Ronan O'Gara and Shane Horgan. O'Gara finished with a 16-point haul after slotting four conversions and a penalty while Roland de Marigny and Marco Bortolami scored Italy's only tries.
(8) 78 – France 35-43 Wales. The visitors got the better of les Bleus in 2001 at the Stade de France in Paris. Wales scored four tries to France's two with Rob Howley, Scott Quinnell, Dafydd James and Neil Jenkins dotting down for the visitors. Their other points came via four conversions, three penalties and two drop goals from Jenkins which saw him finish with a 28-point haul. For France, Philippe Bernat-Salles and Sebastien Bonetti crossed the whitewash.
(7) 80 – Italy 27-53 France. Italy make our list again and this time it was les Bleus who handed out the punishment in Rome in 2003. France ran in seven tries to Italy's four with Aurelien Rougerie and Damien Traille each scoring two tries. Les Bleus' other tries were scored by Serge Betsen, Thomas Castaignede and Frederic Michalak. Dimitri Yachvili kicked six conversions and two tries while Italy's tries were scored by Mirco Bergamasco, Ramiro Pez, Matthew Phillips and Aaron Persico.
(6) 81 – Wales 67-14 Italy. Wales proved too strong for the Azzurri when these sides met at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff in 2016. The hosts dominated from the outset and scored nine tries to Italy's two with Ross Moriarty scoring twice and Rhys Webb, Dan Biggar, Liam Williams, Jamie Roberts, George North, Jonathan Davies and Gareth Davies also crossed the whitewash. Gonzalo Garcia and Guglielmo Palazzani scored the Azzurri's tries.
(5) 81 – Italy 20-61 Wales. Italy were on the receiving end of another thrashing when they faced Warren Gatland's side in Rome in 2015. The visitors outscored the Azzurri eight tries to two with George North scoring a deserved hat-trick. Wales' other tries were scored by Jamie Roberts, Liam Williams, Rhys Webb, Sam Warburton and Scott Williams. Dan Biggar kicked a penalty and six conversions and Leigh Halfpenny also added a penalty. For Italy, Giovanbattista Venditti and Leonardo Sarto dotted down.
(4) 82 – England 61-21 Scotland. England occupy fourth spot on our list and like the top three, this match took place at Twickenham, in 2017. Jonathan Joseph crossed for a hat-trick of tries and Danny Care came off the bench to score a brace. Their other five-pointers were scored by Anthony Watson and Billy Vunipola and Owen Farrell contributed 26 points courtesy of seven conversions and four penalties. Huw Jones scored two tries for Scotland and Gordon Reid also dotted down.
(3) 86 – England 60-26 Wales. Once again it's England who are involved and this time it was their neighbours, Wales, who were on the receiving end of a thumping at Twickenham, in 1998. David Rees crossed for two tries and their other five-pointers were scored by Lawrence Dallaglio, Kyran Bracken, Neil Back, Will Greenwood, Austin Healey and Matt Dawson. Phil Grayson converted seven tries and kicked two penalties. Allan Bateman (2), Scott Gibbs and Gareth Thomas scored Wales' tries.
(2) 90 – England 55-35 France. In 2015, England got the better of les Bleus in a high-scoring affair at Twickenham which thrilled the watching spectators. George Ford led the way for England with a 25-point haul courtesy of a try, seven conversions and two penalties. Ben Youngs and Jack Nowell scored two tries each and Billy Vunipola and Anthony Watson also dotted down. For France, Sebastien Tillous-Borde, Benjamin Kayser, Noa Nakaitaci, Maxime Mermoz and Vincent Debaty scored tries.
(1) 103 – England 80-23 Italy. England were in a rampant mood in this encounter against the Azzurri at Twickenham in 2001. The home side outscored their visitors 10 tries to two with Iain Balshaw and Austin Healey leading the way with a brace apiece. England's other tries were scored by Lawrence Dallaglio, Ben Cohen, Will Greenwood, Jonny Wilkinson, Joe Worsley and Mark Regan, with Carlo Checchinato and Dennis Delan scoring Italy's tries. Wilkinson also kicked nine conversions and four penalties.
